4 Day Desert From Marrakech Itinerary

Day 1: Marrakech → High Atlas Mountains → Skoura → Dades Valley

We leave Marrakech after breakfast and begin our journey into the High Atlas Mountains. As we climb through the Tizi n’Tichka Pass, you’ll notice the air shift and the views open up, this is a part of Morocco few people forget. We’ll stop along the way for panoramic views, short walks, and traditional Berber villages.

By mid-day, we reach the palm groves of Skoura. It’s a peaceful spot with hidden kasbahs tucked between the trees, and we’ll have time to explore a bit before continuing to the dramatic landscapes of the Dades Gorges. You’ll spend the night in a local guesthouse with dinner included and views of the valley all around you.

Day 2: Dades Valley → Todra Gorges → Merzouga Desert

After breakfast, we drive deeper into southern Morocco. We’ll stop in Todra Gorges, where massive canyon walls rise up around you, great for a short walk and a chance to stretch your legs.

By afternoon, we’re on our way to Merzouga, where the Sahara begins. As we arrive, your camels will be ready to take you across the golden Erg Chebbi dunes. You’ll watch the sun set from the saddle, then reach your desert camp in time for tea and dinner. After that, enjoy a night of traditional music, stargazing, and the calm of the dunes.

Day 3: Merzouga Desert → Draa Valley → Agdz → Ouarzazate

We wake up early to catch sunrise over the dunes, always worth the early start. After breakfast and a return ride (camel or 4×4), we head toward the historic town of Rissani, once a powerful trading post on the caravan route.

From there, we pass through desert plateaus and scattered palm groves to reach the Draa Valley. You’ll notice the colors shift again as we approach Agdez and continue to Ouarzazate, where you’ll spend the night.

Day 4: Ouarzazate ⇢ Ait Ben Haddou ⇢ Telouet Kasbah ⇢ Marrakech

On our final day, we start with a visit to the famous Ait Ben Haddou, a UNESCO World Heritage Site and one of Morocco’s most iconic locations. You’ll have time to walk the ancient ksar and explore its winding paths.

From there, we follow a less-traveled road through the Ounila Valley to Telouet Kasbah, a beautifully decaying palace once home to the powerful Glaoui family. It’s one of our favorite stops, full of history and detail.

By late afternoon, we cross the High Atlas once more and return to Marrakech, where we’ll drop you off at your riad or hotel.

Sunset in the Sahara, warm mint tea by the fire, and some of the best tagine I’ve had in Morocco. This tour delivered exactly what we were looking for. The communication before the trip was clear, and everything ran smoothly from start to finish.

The camel trek through the dunes was a total dream. Our guide was friendly and answered all our questions, no matter how many we asked. We booked with True Morocco Travel after reading a few reviews, and I’m so glad we did.

This was our first time in Morocco and this tour helped us see so much in just three days. I really liked how relaxed the schedule felt, we weren’t rushed from one place to another. The camp was beautiful and we met other travelers around the fire. Great vibe all around.

I wasn’t sure what to expect, but I was really impressed. The pickup was right on time, and our driver was careful and professional. The mountain drive was stunning, and the stop in the Todra Gorge was a great break. Merzouga was everything I hoped for.

I honestly wasn’t sure if four days in a van would be too much, but it flew by. Every stop felt worth it, from the mountain roads to the quiet desert camp. True Morocco Travel kept everything running smoothly. Our driver, Youssef, was so kind and always checked in to see if we were comfortable. The sunrise over the dunes was peaceful and unforgettable.
