Welcome to True Morocco Travel. We are so excited to personally invite you on what we believe is the quintessential Moroccan journey. This 7-day experience has been lovingly crafted by us to guide you from the modern pulse of Casablanca through the grand history of our imperial cities and the blue-hued wonder of Chefchaouen, to the awe-inspiring silence of the Sahara, and finally to the vibrant energy of Marrakech. Our promise is simple: we will take care of every detail, ensuring your discovery of Morocco is authentic, comfortable, and truly unforgettable.
Your Morocco cultural holiday begins the moment you arrive. We will be there to greet you with a warm welcome at Casablanca’s Mohammed V International Airport (CMN), your port, or your accommodation. As Morocco’s vibrant economic heart, Casablanca offers a fascinating first impression. Your introduction to our country’s marvels is a visit to the magnificent Hassan II Mosque.
Seeing its grand minaret touch the sky and hearing the Atlantic waves crash nearby is a memory that will stay with you forever. Afterwards, we’ll enjoy lunch together before taking in more of the city’s sights, including a drive along the elegant Corniche, the city’s beautiful waterfront promenade. Tonight, you’ll settle into your comfortable hotel and rest for the adventure ahead.
After a good breakfast, we will journey north along the scenic Atlantic coast to Rabat, our nation’s capital and one of its four imperial cities. Here, you’ll discover a city of quiet charm and deep history. We will guide you to its most iconic landmarks: the striking Hassan Tower, the serene Mausoleum of Mohammed V, and the picturesque Kasbah of the Udayas, where you can wander through its delightful Andalusian gardens and whitewashed lanes. After some free time for lunch, our journey continues towards the stunning Rif Mountains.
As we wind our way through the landscapes of Ouazzane, you will catch your first glimpse of the enchanting “Blue Pearl,” Chefchaouen. Seeing its blue-washed buildings nestled against the mountains is a breathtaking sight. We’ll get you checked into your charming hotel, ready to soak in the town’s unique and tranquil ambiance.
Wake up to the peaceful calm of the blue city. After breakfast, you will have a leisurely morning to take one last stroll through Chefchaouen’s captivating alleyways, capturing photographs and memories of its unique beauty. We then depart towards the ancient heart of Morocco. Our first major stop is the impressive Roman ruins of Volubilis, a UNESCO World Heritage site where you can walk among remarkably preserved mosaics and imagine the grandeur of Roman North Africa.
Just a short drive away lies the powerful imperial city of Meknes. We’ll explore its monumental past, from the incredible Bab Al-Mansour gate and the vast Sahrij Souani basin to the grand Royal Stables and the revered Moulay Ismail Mausoleum.
As the day draws to a close, we arrive in Fes, the spiritual and cultural capital of Morocco. Here, we will escort you to your authentic riad, your home for the next two nights.
Today is dedicated entirely to a deep dive into the soul of Morocco: Fes. After breakfast, you will meet your knowledgeable local guide for a Fes guided tour that you will never forget.
You’ll enter the ancient walls of Fes el-Bali, its UNESCO World Heritage medina and the largest car-free urban area in the world. This is not a museum; it is a living, breathing city, and your guide will help you navigate its vibrant, bustling souks and hidden corners. Your journey will take you to the majestic Royal Palace Gate, past the iconic Bab Boujloud, and into the heart of the medina to discover the architectural beauty of the Medrasa Bouanania, the ornate Najjarine Fountain, the famous Chouara Tanneries, and the ancient Quaraouiyine Mosque and University.
After immersing ourselves in the medina’s magic, we’ll visit the historic Jewish Quarter, the Mellah. To cap off this incredible day, we’ll drive to an old fortress for a spectacular panoramic view over the entire city, giving you a true sense of its immense scale and history.
Today, our much-anticipated Sahara desert trip begins. After an early breakfast, we journey south, ascending into the beautiful Middle Atlas Mountains.
Our first stop will be in the charming town of Ifrane, often called “Morocco’s Switzerland” for its alpine-style architecture. From there, our adventure continues to the ancient Cedars Forest, home to the curious Barbary Macaques. After a lunch break in Midelt, we will cross the scenic Tizi-n-Tilghmt pass, arriving at the incredible Ziz Valley. The view of the vast river of palm trees stretching for miles is simply stunning. As afternoon turns to evening, the landscape will transform, and the golden dunes of the Merzouga Sahara will rise before you. Here, you will begin an unforgettable camel trek into the Erg Chebbi dunes, a slow, peaceful journey that leads you to your luxury desert camp. You will spend a truly magical night here, enjoying a traditional dinner and Berber music around a campfire under an endless canopy of brilliant stars.
We recommend waking early today to witness one of nature’s greatest shows: a magnificent Sahara sunrise. Seeing the colors shift and wash over the silent dunes is a spiritual experience. After a delicious breakfast at the camp, you’ll ride your camel back to Merzouga to meet our vehicle.
Our journey continues towards Rissani, the ancient capital of the Tafilalet region, where you can stroll through its authentic and bustling traditional souk.
Next, we travel to Erfoud, a town famous for its fascinating fossilized marble workshops. We’ll then drive through the picturesque palm groves of Touroug and Tinjdad before reaching the colossal Todra Gorges. These towering canyon walls, carved by the Todra River, create a breathtaking natural spectacle, and we’ll stop for a leisurely walk to fully appreciate their scale. After lunch, we proceed to the enchanting Dades Valley, famous for its unique “monkey fingers” rock formations, and stop for an amazing panoramic view. Your night will be spent in a comfortable hotel overlooking this dramatic valley.
On the final day of your Casablanca to Marrakech itinerary, we continue our journey through more of Morocco’s most stunning landscapes. We’ll pass through the Roses Valley in Kalaa Magouna and the serene palm groves of Skoura, where we will visit the beautifully preserved Kasbah of Amridil. Our next stop is Ouarzazate, the “Hollywood of Africa,” where you’ll have the option to visit its famous film studios or the historic Taourirt Kasbah.
The absolute highlight of the day awaits at the iconic Ait Ben Haddou Kasbah. This breathtaking fortified village, a UNESCO World Heritage site and backdrop for countless films, is a place where you can truly step back in time. After exploring its ancient, winding alleys, we will begin our spectacular drive over the High Atlas Mountains via the famous Tizi-N-Tichka Pass (2260m).
The dramatic views will captivate you as we descend towards the vibrant ‘Red City’. We will ensure your comfortable drop-off at your Marrakech accommodation or the airport, marking the perfect end to your unforgettable 7-day Morocco tour.
We suggest budgeting for daily lunches (approximately 10-15 EUR per person), drinks, souvenirs, and entrance fees. The amount can vary greatly depending on your personal spending habits.
Yes, this tour is wonderfully suited for a wide range of travelers. We’ve hosted families with young children and more senior guests with great success. Because the tour is private, we can adjust the pace. The driving days are broken up with plenty of interesting stops. The only consideration is the camel ride, which is optional; anyone who prefers not to ride a camel can be driven directly to the camp in our 4×4 vehicle.
The camel trek from the edge of the dunes to our camp takes approximately 60 to 90 minutes. It’s timed perfectly to coincide with the setting sun, creating the most magical experience possible. The ride is gentle and suitable for most people. For the return journey in the morning, you can choose to ride the camel again or take our 4×4 vehicle back from the camp.
Yes, you can. While our standard camp is already very comfortable, clean, and beautiful, with private tents and proper beds, we do offer an upgrade to an ultra-luxury camp. These camps feature larger, more opulent tents with private en-suite bathrooms, hot showers, and more elaborate furnishings. Just let us know your preference when you inquire, and we can provide the details for your luxury Erg Chebbi desert camp experience.
Yes, we absolutely do. Moroccan cuisine is very adaptable. Whether you are vegetarian, vegan, gluten-free, or have any allergies, we can ensure your meals are delicious and safe. Please just inform us of your dietary needs at the time of booking so we can make the necessary arrangements with our partner hotels and our camp cook.
Moroccans are warm and welcoming. We recommend dressing modestly, especially when visiting rural areas or religious sites (covering shoulders and knees). Always ask for permission before taking a photo of a person. Your guide will offer helpful advice throughout your journey.
You will travel in a private, modern, and comfortable air-conditioned vehicle (such as a 4×4 or minivan, depending on your group size) exclusively for you and your party, along with your dedicated driver/guide.
We were after a trip that showed us the ‘real’ Morocco, and this one was even better than we could have hoped for. Chefchaouen was a blue dream, Fes was a historical treasure trove, and the camel trek was an absolute highlight. Our guide was more than just a driver; he was a friend who shared stories and made us feel so welcome. We absolutely love this cultural holiday, and we’re sure you will too!
From the moment our driver, Hassan, met us in Casablanca, we knew we were in good hands. This 7-day tour was perfectly paced. The contrast between the vibrant chaos of the Fes medina and the profound silence of the Sahara was something we will never forget. True Morocco Travel planned everything flawlessly. The desert camp was pure magic!
