Itinerario detallado día a día: Tour de 3 días de Marrakech a Fez

Día 1: Marrakech → Montañas del Alto Atlas → Ait Ben Haddou → Valle del Dades

Our adventure begins the moment we pick you up from your riad in Marrakech. I love this first morning; the energy is full of anticipation as we leave the vibrant city behind and begin our ascent into the magnificent High Atlas Mountains. The air cools, and the scenery becomes breathtakingly dramatic. We will wind our way up the Tizi n’Tichka pass, a road that feels carved into the very roof of North Africa, stopping at panoramic viewpoints that will leave you speechless. Along the way, you will see traditional Berber villages clinging to the mountainsides, a testament to a life lived in harmony with nature for centuries.

Our main stop for the day is the Kasbah of Ait Ben Haddou. This is not just a filming location for Gladiator and Game of Thrones; it is a living, breathing UNESCO World Heritage site. Walking through its ancient, sand-colored alleyways is like stepping back in time. You can feel the history in the walls and imagine the caravans that once passed through here, laden with spices and gold. After exploring this earthen city, we’ll continue our drive toward Ouarzazate, a quiet city known as the gateway to the Sahara. The journey then takes us through the fragrant Valley of Roses and past countless ancient kasbahs, each with a story to tell. Our day ends in the stunning Dades Valley, a place of dramatic red rock formations known as the «monkey fingers.» Here, you will settle into a charming, family-run guesthouse, enjoy a delicious traditional dinner, and rest, surrounded by the quiet beauty of the gorge.

Día 2: Valle del Dades → Garganta del Todra → Erfoud → Merzouga (Erg Chebbi)

Waking up in the Dades Valley is a peaceful experience. After a hearty breakfast, we continue our High Atlas to Sahara tour. Our first stop is the equally impressive Todra Gorge. Here, the canyon walls soar over 300 meters high, creating a narrow corridor of rock that is simply awe-inspiring. We will take our time here, allowing you to walk along the river and truly appreciate the scale and raw power of nature.

From the gorge, the landscape begins to transform. The mountains give way to a flatter, more arid plain, dotted with acacia trees and the occasional sign of a nomad’s camp. We pass through Erfoud, a town famous for its fossils, and Rissani, the ancient cradle of Morocco’s ruling dynasty. You can feel the desert getting closer. And then, you see them: the towering, golden dunes of Erg Chebbi. It’s a moment that never gets old. Here in Merzouga, on the edge of the great Sahara, your adventure truly enters another realm.

You will be greeted with a glass of mint tea before we introduce you to your camel companions. The camel trek into Merzouga’s golden heart is a highlight for everyone. The gentle rhythm of the camel’s gait, the profound silence of the desert, and the ever-shifting light as the sun begins its descent create a truly magical atmosphere. We will time our arrival at our comfortable Erg Chebbi desert camp perfectly for you to climb a nearby dune and witness an unforgettable sunset. As evening falls, a delicious dinner will be served under the stars, followed by the enchanting sounds of Berber drum music around a crackling campfire. The sky out here, far from any city lights, is something you will carry in your memory forever.

Preguntas frecuentes

¿Es este tour privado?

Yes, absolutely. All of our tours are private. This means it will only be you, your travel companions, and your dedicated driver and guide. This allows for wonderful flexibility, so we can stop whenever you wish for photos or simply to take in a view. It’s your adventure, at your pace.

Recomendamos llevar ropa ligera.

It’s often the small details that make a good trip a great one, and True Morocco Travel has perfected this. From the very beginning, we were impressed by their professionalism. Our driver, Mohamed, was exceptional. His English was perfect, and he was an incredibly smooth and safe driver, which gave us great peace of mind on the mountain roads. The 4×4 vehicle itself was immaculate, modern, and very comfortable, with good air conditioning and even WiFi, which was a nice surprise.
What stood out to us was the thoughtfulness of the stops. Mohamed didn’t just pull over for photos; he knew exactly where the cleanest restrooms were and the best cafes for a proper coffee. The riad chosen for our overnight stay in the Dades Valley was charming and beautiful, with a wonderfully comfortable bed and a hot shower—exactly what you need after a day of travel. Every aspect of the tour felt high-quality and well-planned. They think of everything so you don’t have to. We felt completely looked after and would trust them for any future travels in Morocco.

I believe you truly understand a place through its food, and this tour was a delicious journey. I was expecting basic tourist fare, but I was so impressed with the quality and authenticity of the meals. Our guide, Rachid, knew that we were interested in food and went out of his way to find amazing local spots for lunch. We had the most flavorful and tender lamb tagine at a small roadside restaurant that we never would have found on our own.
The dinner at the desert camp was a true feast. A huge spread of salads, breads, and a fantastic chicken tagine, all served under the stars. They even told us about a local specialty called Madfouna, or «Berber pizza,» which we got to try along the way. Even the simple act of stopping for mint tea felt like a special ritual. This tour isn’t just about seeing the sights; it’s a full sensory experience. If you appreciate good, honest food as part of your travels, you will be very happy with this trip. My compliments to True Morocco Travel for a fantastic culinary tour!

The Peterson Family

Family Traveller

Traveling with our two kids (8 and 11), we were nervous about the long drives, but this tour was a massive hit with the entire family. Our guide, Ali, was an absolute superstar and was incredible with our children. He made the whole thing feel like a giant treasure hunt. At Ait Benhaddou, he told them stories of ancient movie heroes and explorers, so they weren’t just looking at old buildings; they were exploring a real-life castle.
He was so patient, stopping whenever we needed and making sure the kids were comfortable. The camel ride was, of course, a huge highlight for them—they haven’t stopped talking about their camels, «Bob Marley» and «Spiderman.» The night in the desert, with the music and the campfire, was pure magic for them. The whole trip was perfectly paced for a family. It was an adventure that kept them engaged and excited the entire time. To any families wondering if this trip is manageable with kids: do it! True Morocco Travel made it easy and unforgettable for all of us.

I have to admit, I’m not usually a «tour person.» I was worried about being herded around in a big bus and only seeing tourist traps. This experience with True Morocco Travel was the complete opposite of that, and it completely changed my perspective. Because it’s a private tour, it felt incredibly personal. Our guide, Brahim, was the highlight. He wasn’t just reciting a script; he shared his own life experiences and gave us a real, honest look into Berber culture.
The best moments were the small ones: stopping on the side of the road to look at fossils, him explaining the meaning of the symbols woven into a local rug, or just chatting about our families during the drive. Of course, the main sights like Ait Benhaddou and the camel trek into Erg Chebbi were spectacular. But it was the feeling of having a genuine connection and seeing the country through a local’s eyes that made it so special. This tour felt authentic and heartfelt. I’m a total convert and would recommend True Morocco Travel to anyone who wants to see the real Morocco.
